The Society of Finnish Female Professional Foresters, a member of The Society of Finnish Professional Foresters, was founded in 1955. One of its main goals is to supervise the hiring of women, but also to promote working skills of its members and see to work-related equality and of course to communicate with other similar organisations and the forest industry.
Today the number of members is a little over 200. Any female who has a degree in M.Sc.(For.), is studying forestry at the Universityof Helsinki or Joensuu or who is working in the forestry sector and has another university degree may be accepted as a member. The board can make exceptions to this rule if necessary.
The board of the society organises different kinds of events, e.g. meetings, training, talks and excursions. It also gives statements concerning its field of action. Female students of forestry are welcome to attend some of the happenings.
